Anxiety

Anxiety is a very common feeling of fear or panic. We all tend to get anxious feelings sometimes, its a natural response. Thousands of years ago, we would have depended on those anxious feelings of fear and panic to help us stay alive. We would either have had to go out there and fight for our lives or run away from the danger. However, things are very different now, our modern day stressors are not the same, yet we still respond in the same way. When anxiety won’t go away and becomes chronic it can become draining and debilitating. If you are having difficulty coping with anxiety that won’t go away, hypnotherapy may be able to help you.

How Hypnotherapy can help you change
Because we are hard wired to look out for danger, we very often focus on negative things; we say things like ‘I don’t want to be so stressed’ or ‘I don’t want to be worried any more’. Focusing on the negative and thinking about how we don’t want to be reinforces the negativity. By focusing on the positive, what you do want, rather than what you don’t want we can start making positive changes and this is how hypnotherapy can help.

On your first hypnotherapy session we would establish how you want to be and then I would guide you into hypnosis and give you positive suggestions to help start the process of change. As everyone is different, on subsequent sessions we would focus on your own individual needs.

Hypnotherapy isn’t a magic wand and your problem will not immediately be gone. Some people respond to hypnotherapy quicker than others, its similar to learning any new skill, some people find it easier to do some things and other people have to work harder at it but you get to the same place in the end. The process of change takes time. They say it takes 4 weeks to start a new habit, 4 weeks to practise it and another 4 weeks before it becomes a part of you.
